Rice Chakli Recipe

Go Eat Learn man (GelMan) is hungry and new to cooking. Like every tech guy, GelMan wants a quicker output with minimum effort by following exact specifications.

Today GelMan likes to try his hand at very famous Indian snack Chakli - below are other names:
 Jantikalu, Muruku, Murukku, Chakralu

Though there are many varieties of Chakli - spinach chakli, coconut milk chakli, wheat flour chakli etc, our GelMan wants something very quick as he can't wait more for a quick bite. We'll discuss the preparation of making Rice Chakli in 20 minutes - yes, just 20 minutes!

Ingredients:

1. Carom seeds: 1 tea spoon
vaamu (Telugu), ajwain (Hindi), omam (Tamil)
2. Rice flour: 2 cups
3. Roasted Gram: 1/2 cup
putnala pappu (Telugu), buna chana dal (Hindi), pottu kadalai (Tamil)
4. Red chilli powder : 2 tea spoons

6. Salt : 2 tea spoons
7. Peanuts : 1/2 cup
palli/veru senaga pappu (Telugu), moong fali (Hindi), ver kadali (Tamil)

Process:

a) Add peanuts, roasted dal, ajwain seeds, red chilli powder and salt into a grinder jar and make a fine dry grind (do not add water!)

b) In a big empty bowl, mix the dry ground powder (from Step a) with rice flour

c) Slowly add water to the mix until you get fine but non sticking dough

d) Hope you are having a chakli maker (we should've mentioned earlier, but our GelMan has it !)

e) Add little oil to interiors of chakli maker so that dough doesn't stick while preparing

f) Fill the maker with dough

g) Slowly press/turn chakli maker to get desired shapes of Chakli

h) Heat the oil on a high flame so that you are ready to fry the dough. Fry thoroughly.

 GelMan's Chakli is ready !!

Tips:

> Listed ingredients would result in 15-20 chaklis, so  plan accordingly.
> GelMan wants a milder taste today. If you want spicy Chakli, add more salt and chilli powder
> You can add 3 tbsp of butter while mixing flour and ground powder - you will be ready with Butter Chakli/Butter Muruku
> Do not worry about properly shaped Chakli - try for your own funny shaped Chaklis :)
